How can we improve the future of IGN?

Bring back the slider thumbnails.

I miss the featured slider thumbnails. Now I have to click through each panel to see what all is new.

Also, is it possible to indicate somewhere around the headlines if it refers to an article or a video. Sometimes I'm only interested in one or the other and currently the only fast way I know to tell is to roll over the headline and look at the browser status bar. If there were an indication of an article being video or text I think that would be nice.

We’ve rolled out a new version of the coverstories slider element with
    (a) grouping indicators, so you can easily skip from one item to the next, as well as showing how many groups there are
    (b) an indicator fuse showing how long until the next rotation
© clicking a tab will stop the autorotation, clicking again will restart. watching a video will also pause the rotation, but not restart on close

Let us know what you think, we’ve got some more updates in the works!

Also, I split the other issue out to a separate item so you can all have votes back, use them again if you think the content indicator would be helpful:

The new update only shows the name. Is it impossible for the thumbnail to make a return?

Also, perhaps it could just be the computers and browsers I use (mac and Firefox mostly) but there is a really annoying "strobing" that occurs when I click through the main banners. I would imagine it is related to the size of the banners and the width they have to cover.

I hope the coming update also addresses this issue, because it's slowly deterring me from clicking through those banners.

        Hey folks -

We're currently working on an update to the slider unit. We had a version ready for launch that kept previews for each item in the slider, but it didn't make it in before launch. Look for an update later this week.

        Posted by Ian:
"The most important section of the site (and the one I and other users undoubtedly check first) is the scrolling large main image palette. I think the upgrade does a large disservice to this area because instead of getting a brief look at the 4 or 5 largest stories of the day instantly, I have to manually click the large red arrows or wait for them to scroll by. I know there are still featurettes below the main palette, but I really think the featured stories should not be hidden behind one another.

An added factor to consider is the change this has for tablet users - the new design overall (more compact, more content on the main page) is fantastic, but requiring a user to click (with a finger or thumb) to see main stories shouldn't be a frustration when using the site.

I really like it overall, but think the main header needs a little work. Kudos for taking such easy feedback!"

I can't understand why this great feature was removed. It was so simple and easy to mouse-over the current news items and see them, now I have to wait 20 seconds to cycle through an unknown number of them?

Also the slider should stop while the mouse cursor is over it so one can read all the info on the right.
