Bring back the drop down menus on the top menu bar!
I like the new layout which eliminates some clutter but I miss the drop down menus, like when you highlight 3DS at the top of the site you can go right to Reviews, Games, Message Boards, etc. Now it takes a lot longer to get there. it becomes troublesome to find things like that. It's almost impossible to go to the list of games for a specific category like Wii or 3DS.
Also just as a side note, it would be nice to improve your video player. For instance it would be nice when your watching a video in full screen if the bar at the bottom of the screen would auto hide itself when in full screen mode as well as the mouse or maybe if the was a button on the bar itself that would allow this. Also after a video is done playing the "Esc" button doesnt let you escape out of full screen.

Where is the drop down menu for Movie Reviews? Better still, where can I even find Movie Reviews. I see a few on the right side, but nothing to click on to see this month's or previous months reviews. I can't find any movie review link anywhere!! Please help. I will have to start going to other sites, if can't be guided to it. THanks

I just don't see how I am supposed to navigate your site now as there are no sub menues available anymore. This wouldn't be hard if any other clear way of navigation was present. Like clearly marked and linked headings for latest reviews, latest previews etc… But it's all a big mess and really not what I'm looking for. I stopped using the site as I just don't see how to navigate it anymore.

you can get the reviews from games by clicking the REVIEWS tab between PSP and Upcoming games...as for getting revews of all the no-gaming content like TV, Movies...I understand IGN haven't made a decision as to whether they want to post review for those things as evidenced by the fact they've done nothing about it for ages despite the user feedback they have received.

I agree, I can't hardly get the the things that I'm use to. The drop down menus were extreemely convenient or maybe I just need to get unretarded and learn the new way to find stuff. But is its way more difficult to find the game lists.

If there is no drop down menu to go to the list of the reviews of a given section where is it accessible?

I agree 100% with the drop down menus. That is the only thing so far that I would complain about, but it really really annoys me. Please bring it back!!

I preferred using the drop-down menu to immediately see a console's latest reviews and scores rather than clicking on Reviews then using the very small font to select which console I want to look at.

Struggling to find latest reviews pages.
Also, plural of 'menu' is 'menus' - no apostrophe! Just saying...
Apart from that, it's all good.

Hi everyone -
Thanks for the feedback. Regarding the drop downs, while I was the person for designing them initially in 2009, we found through data and analytics that less than 1% of the people coming to the site were using them on a daily basis. That, plus the fact that the dropdowns added significant weight to the pages and slowed down the site significantly (at least 25% faster in the new setup), we decided to make a decision to remove them and focus on making the rest of the page below the header have more utility for folks.
Over the next few weeks, you should see more and more improvements to the home, platform channel and article pages to help you get to content faster.
thanks for the feedback, we are doing our best to listen.

I disagree with the notion of bringing back dropdown menus. I felt like all those links were too tightly packed together in the dropdown menu and I would often end up clicking the wrong link. I think that the idea of having one link to go to the reviews page and switching between consoles once you are there is actually a better idea. I game on several different consoles, so I find this design easier for me. However, I think that it would be nice if once you got to the reviews page and clicked on a particular console, that the reviews loaded via AJAX instead of triggering a page reload.

Yes I agree with you, it was much easier to go search (and find) something specific with the old one.
Personally with was mainly for going to the Daily Fix videos page and the "TOP STORIES" is the main reason. We had more than twice the news in the new window and now merely 20-23 (about 43 with the old one).
I don't think that loading up a new page is THAT bad IMO; I prefer that than searching for something than I don't find XD
