Bring back the drop down menus on the top menu bar!
I like the new layout which eliminates some clutter but I miss the drop down menus, like when you highlight 3DS at the top of the site you can go right to Reviews, Games, Message Boards, etc. Now it takes a lot longer to get there. it becomes troublesome to find things like that. It's almost impossible to go to the list of games for a specific category like Wii or 3DS.
Also just as a side note, it would be nice to improve your video player. For instance it would be nice when your watching a video in full screen if the bar at the bottom of the screen would auto hide itself when in full screen mode as well as the mouse or maybe if the was a button on the bar itself that would allow this. Also after a video is done playing the "Esc" button doesnt let you escape out of full screen.
Bring back the drop down menus, it made navigation so much easier
I have no idea how to get to latest reviews or upcoming games for a particular system. Please bring back the drop down boxes
Before I could click Reviews underneath the top stores to see the latest reviews. I would like it back. Clicking reviews at the top of the page only allows for video game reviews, not for movies or tv.
Use to be able to select latest updates from drop down. Doesn't exist anymore. Also on the TV Page, the podcast is no where to be found.
I cannot navigate anymore. Where is the xbox downloadable content menu ?
Combine the top bar you have now with the one you used to have. I need my subcategories i can never find anything now.
The new layout is horrible. Where are the links with the game list? Where are the drop down menus underneath each console type?
Look i love the new layout but one of the really good old features was the quick and easy drop down menus. Xbox. Reviews. Bam im there. I think they should be included in the new layout!
When you are in the ps3 or any other section in the site I want to drop another tab like the other UI interface you had to search all the categories in that section.
I cant access the drop down menu when I hold my mouse over the Wii tab. I dont know if you deactivated this function or what but whatever it is it really needs to come back
There used to be a drop down when you put your mouse over tv or games or what not now it doesn't do anything you go to tv and it's just what's on the main page. There should be sections especially for reviews a review link for latest tv show reviews.
Just put a link to your review page somewhere. Anywhere. You used to have it as part of the dropdown menu when you hovered over 'PS3', 'Xbox360', etc. I have no idea how to get the review section which is the main feature of your site.
Just separate the items of interest in categories in the page benath the slider, the new scheme made things more confusing. I liked specially to scroll through all the latest reviews, it was useful knowing what IGN thoughts were on every new release. Please bring that feature back (sorry for yelling before, i was really frustrated then).
there's no menu to see the upcoming game or the review it doesn't work or you put it somewhere I can't see and I don't like it
please bring it back fast you are my number 1 gaming site please stay that way
I do enjoy the way the new site looks. I do miss the drop down menus on the top bar. If you guys are completely doing away with them I understand, but if you could work them back in it makes navigating the site so much more easier.
I liked when you could use the drop down menu to go straight to movie reviews, blu-ray reviews, and othe categories like that.
I have always hated the rediculously busy splash pages. I always used the drop down menus to jump to the Latest News & Updates pages which simply lists everything out in a nice neat chronological order. That is all I want, and now I can't find it.
Where the link to Guides per platform? In the previous interface if you'd put the pointer on the name of the console you are interested in, you'd see a drop down menu with quick navigation option, like game guides for that platform. Can't see a similar button in this new layout :-/
i have no idea how to find pretty much anything. for all i know ive missed 100 stories in two days. much easier to navigate with the menus
I loved scrolling over the tv or movies tab and clicking on the news link. I can't do that anymore and it's extremely annoying.
I really loved the part were if you scroll over the main articles on the highlighted ones it would go back to the image. Instead of just pressing the arrows on the side :(
also if you scrolled over the top bar at the top you would get different subjects I really really loved that.
I love IGN so much but instead of upgrading it you downgraded it NOOOO!!!!

Where is the drop down menu for Movie Reviews? Better still, where can I even find Movie Reviews. I see a few on the right side, but nothing to click on to see this month's or previous months reviews. I can't find any movie review link anywhere!! Please help. I will have to start going to other sites, if can't be guided to it. THanks

I just don't see how I am supposed to navigate your site now as there are no sub menues available anymore. This wouldn't be hard if any other clear way of navigation was present. Like clearly marked and linked headings for latest reviews, latest previews etc… But it's all a big mess and really not what I'm looking for. I stopped using the site as I just don't see how to navigate it anymore.

you can get the reviews from games by clicking the REVIEWS tab between PSP and Upcoming games...as for getting revews of all the no-gaming content like TV, Movies...I understand IGN haven't made a decision as to whether they want to post review for those things as evidenced by the fact they've done nothing about it for ages despite the user feedback they have received.
How do i get to the list of games?
I used to be able to do this with the drop down menu

I agree, I can't hardly get the the things that I'm use to. The drop down menus were extreemely convenient or maybe I just need to get unretarded and learn the new way to find stuff. But is its way more difficult to find the game lists.
My thoughts EXACTLY. Bring back the drop-down menus!
If there is no drop down menu to go to the list of the reviews of a given section where is it accessible?
I agree 100% with the drop down menus. That is the only thing so far that I would complain about, but it really really annoys me. Please bring it back!!
I preferred using the drop-down menu to immediately see a console's latest reviews and scores rather than clicking on Reviews then using the very small font to select which console I want to look at.
Struggling to find latest reviews pages.
Also, plural of 'menu' is 'menus' - no apostrophe! Just saying...
Apart from that, it's all good.

Hi everyone -
Thanks for the feedback. Regarding the drop downs, while I was the person for designing them initially in 2009, we found through data and analytics that less than 1% of the people coming to the site were using them on a daily basis. That, plus the fact that the dropdowns added significant weight to the pages and slowed down the site significantly (at least 25% faster in the new setup), we decided to make a decision to remove them and focus on making the rest of the page below the header have more utility for folks.
Over the next few weeks, you should see more and more improvements to the home, platform channel and article pages to help you get to content faster.
thanks for the feedback, we are doing our best to listen.
Its easier to get to the boards on the new layout
I disagree with the notion of bringing back dropdown menus. I felt like all those links were too tightly packed together in the dropdown menu and I would often end up clicking the wrong link. I think that the idea of having one link to go to the reviews page and switching between consoles once you are there is actually a better idea. I game on several different consoles, so I find this design easier for me. However, I think that it would be nice if once you got to the reviews page and clicked on a particular console, that the reviews loaded via AJAX instead of triggering a page reload.

Yes I agree with you, it was much easier to go search (and find) something specific with the old one.
Personally with was mainly for going to the Daily Fix videos page and the "TOP STORIES" is the main reason.
We had more than twice the news in the new window and now merely 20-23 (about 43 with the old one).
I don't think that loading up a new page is THAT bad IMO; I prefer that than searching for something than I don't find XD
