How can we improve the future of IGN?

Themed Headers, Pause Carousel on Hover, Carousel Links Text-Decoration on Hover

Hello IGN Web Development Team,

Here are my ideas for improving IGN.com:

Themed Headers:
I understand that one of the main goals of this new design was to free up more space for content by shrinking the header. The cost of implementing this change was to remove the themed headers for each console page. However, I think that the themed headers have been a key part of IGN's personality for years and that they shouldn't have been removed. I think that the different themes made gamers feel like the community for their favorite console had it's own special place on IGN. Now each page is basically indistinguishable from the others and at a quick glance you can't even tell which page you're on. I think that it more important to preserve IGN's personality and the sense of community pride within IGN than it is to gain another 60 pixels of vertical space. I think that with a little creativity, a solution that both reduces clutter in the header and maintains each page's individuality could be reached.

Pause Carousel on Hover:
I realize that most people probably just immediately click on the image or the article headline in the carousel. However, sometimes I like to read the titles of the other articles in the carousel and it would be nice if I could pause the carousel while I'm reading so I don't have strain myself to read everything before it slides away.

Carousel Links Hover Text-Decoration:
I would really like to see an underline text-decoration when I hover over the links on each pane of the carousel. From a usability standpoint this lets me know exactly what link I am about to click. I believe that this would require the following addition to your css: .cat-coverStories a:hover{text-decoration:underline;}.

Thank you for taking my ideas into consideration,
Jason
