Implement privacy settings for blogs.
Blog posts need some way to prevent them from being open to anyone and everyone on the entire internet. This was previously possible with password-protected posts, but the updates to the system in late January removed password functionality, forcing users to choose between making a post available to everyone in the world, or hiding it completely.
I had two very creepy real-life incidents as a result of people Googling and finding posts in my old IGN blog, and was therefore incredibly grateful for the option to make my old blog posts "Friends Only" so that they wouldn't show up in Google results. I don't like having to self-censor everything I write; I'd like to be able to be candid without having to wonder if the creepy guy from my chem class is stalking me online.
When I first asked if some kind of privacy restrictions were possible, jimmcq told me to use the password system. I did. Now I can't.
This is being considered so vote for it if you want it!

I feel like this is pretty common feature throughout the internet with most blogs. If you're going to spend the money on hosting these things and expect folks to actually use them then this is a no-brainer.

Yes, I want this too. Showing up on google so much is starting to feel unsafe, and private password protected blogs are good for keeping notes on, like bookmarks.
Also, I don't know if this was fixed, but in the past if you published privately, the "___ wrote a new blog" still showed up on the Newsfeed.

I definitely support this, no one should have to worry about what they're posting on a site where they come to relax.

The developers are looking into how much work is involved so cross your fingers and sacrifice your animals now!

Yeah, the only news of this was a throwaway sentence at the end of Bromley's post about the new changes: "Also the private and password protected blogs will be unlocked." Not surprised you missed it Murdock.
