As a board user
I would like stable boards system
So that I can have conversations with other IGN users whenever I want.

As someone who spends as much, if not more time on the boards as I do on the blogs, it would be nice for my level to reflect that. Maybe award one point per board post, and two for creating a new thread.

Let users pm others right off the bat, without the 20 post rule thing. Also, I would like a notification on the MyIGN page as well when I get a new message.

Every article on IGN has an associated boards.ign.com forum thread.

It would be nice if a simple, auto-generated link to each article's forum thread was added to every article, perhaps located above the comments.

I always thought some sort of "Reputation" system would be a nice fun edition to the boards..... people would give posts by a user either positive or negative rep point if they liked or disliked the post.... then points would be tracked on the users board profile or maybe displayed under their name.

Would probably need to make it so you can only give out a certain amount a day, or need to spread rep points around to different users before you can hit the same person multiple times though.

In Firefox 3 and 4 on Windows or Linux, I can't (1) middle-click to open links in a new tab or (2) properly use the page up, page down, home, and end keys.

The QuickReply feature on the boards currently does not respect line breaks. For example:

This is line 1.

This is line 2.

...when entered via the QuickReply feature will be posted as:

This is line 1.This is line 2.

Really mangles your formatting when attempting to us QuickReply to post a multi-line message.

Probably one of the most useful buttons in forums.
Basically you click on a thread and read through it. If/When you come back to it, you have to sift through all the posts and try to remember where you left off.
Going to the first unread post cuts off on all the time spent trying to figure out where you left off. Especially in very large 100+ post threads.

Whenever you quote a post that has been quoted another 3 times, the post becomes broken. Allow them to be quoted 5-6 times.

When you search for 'IGN boards' below the link for the boards it currently says:

"Popular message boards for PS2, Xbox, GameCube, GBA, PC games, cheats,
codes, walkthroughs and older platforms."

We should get that changed to "PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, Vita, 3DS, PC games, cheats, codes, walkthroughs and older platforms."

Since the loss of the VNBOARDs, I really have not had a reason to even visit this site any more.

Create a board for each FACET of IGN so that you can allow user / players to comment specifically about the area /games they like / dislike without looking like a friggin series of TWEETS(thread titles) that don't go togehter.

I also don't use GMAIL(Google) nor Facebook.

I'm getting sick of googling the answer to get to the page to do something simple like changing your signature, When I finally find it, I get an error.

Should we fix this?

Board formatting does not show up in Firefox 12 and as a result looks sloppy and plain.

Recently I had someone mess with one of the topics I wrote and he or she rewrote the title that I didn't allow and wasn't notified and wasn't a OP. You should make it possible for the author of the topic be the ONLY person who can change the title of his topic along with OP. If not that, make it possible to delete his or her topic at anytime.

I have a problem. I read the message borads and sometimes post. I see lots of messages that have stupid text strings inside brackets. I assume those are strings that show up as emotion icons on some people screens, but not my screen. It is real annoying. What can I do to get the icons to show?
